Chair yoga allows you to experience all the benefits of yoga whilst predominantly being in a seated position. We start by tuning into our practice, getting the body and mind ready to move. From there we work together, flexing and compressing the joints and stretching out the muscles. Chair yoga is great for not only older generations and people with mobility issues, but also for office workers. It might be that you have a condition or injury that impacts your ability to do other types of activity, or maybe you just want to correct all the hunching up that you do over a hot laptop or smart phone. Either way you will see improvements in your strength, range of motion and flexibility within a few weeks.
There are a wide range of poses that are perfect for chair work and once you’ve got the hang of it you can do them anywhere.
Who is this class for?
This class is suitable for everyone, but is likely to appeal more to people with an injury or condition that stops them from moving freely, or sedentary workers that want to introduce a bit of yoga into their working day.
What do I need? Comfortable clothing, bare feet and of course a chair!
